Online Dictionary

There is a wonderful online dictionary for Portuguese. It is based in Portugal, so the default will be Continental Portuguese, but it does also have a great cataloguing of vocabulary and slang from Brazil and the PALOP (the African nations that speak Portuguese).

Note: This is a dictionary of Portuguese in Portuguese, so English and Spanish, etc., will avail you not! :)

Characters/Letters for writing Portuguese

Portuguese has lots of letters and characters that one needs to write the language properly. If you want to know how to make these (& many other interesting ones) by using the alt-key, here is a useful link. If you would rather just see the characters now for cutting & pasting:
